Balcarová & Hutek (CZ/PL)
Štěpánka Balcarová & Małgorzata Hutek Quartet, the new Czech‑Polish quartet led by trumpeter and composer Štěpánka Balcarová, builds on her previous successful projects inspired by Polish poetry, especially the albums Life and Happiness of Julian Tuwim (2017) and the orchestral Štěstí (Happiness, 2022), which received the Anděl Award in the jazz category. The current project, Zuzanna, sets to music the poems of Polish Jewish poet Zuzanna Ginczanka (1917–1944), whose work is marked by exceptional sensitivity, irony, and reflections on her time.
