Glass and light
An exhibition of light objects from the glassmaking school in Kamenický Šenov, which celebrates its 170th anniversary in 2026.
The exhibition will take you into the world of young designers from the Light Objects Design studio, who boldly and creatively push the boundaries of traditional lighting. Their works—from functional floor lamps to free-standing light installations—combine glass, metal, and light in a harmony that not only dazzles but also inspires. Each object is proof that even with minimal energy consumption, it is possible to create a radiant experience.
The exhibition takes advantage of the unique atmosphere of the underground Gorlice Hall, where the light installations of young artists engage in a dialogue with the original Baroque sculptures from Charles Bridge.
The exhibition is part of the Casemates to Gorlice tour.
Due to popular demand, the exhibition has been extended
until January 4, 2026.
Glassmaking school
The Glassmaking School in Kamenický Šenov is the oldest glassmaking school in the world and one of the most important vocational schools not only in the Czech Republic but also internationally. It currently offers courses in the following departments: Engraved Glass Design, Painted Glass Design, Cut Glass Design, Lighting Design, and Applied Painting. In 2026, the school will celebrate the 170th anniversary of its founding, and the exhibition will herald the celebrations of this important anniversary of the school, which has educated a large number of renowned glass artists and designers.
