MarZ

The first concert of the second year of Music at Vyšehrad will send visitors of the Old Burgrave’s House by a stream of great original songs all the way to MarZ. It’s not just a planet, but the entire musical universe of the unique singer and guitarist Markéta Zdeňková, whose genre lies somewhere between folk, pop and jazz. Thematically, her songs - written with lightness and humor mainly in Czech - range from sincere confessions to pranks to shamanic ritual and find an ever-growing audience across generations. In recent years, MarZ has also been active as a five-member band, but at the Vyšehrad concert they will perform as an original duo. In it, the singer is accompanied by an exceptional instrumentalist of the current young Prague (not only) jazz scene, trombonist and singer Štěpán Janoušek, who is also the author of the song arrangements. The promise of an extraordinary experience is also given by music columnist Jindřich Göth: ”Is it folk, pop, rock, jazz? I don’t know and I don’t really care. They are, first of all, strong and good songs.”

The concert is a part of a multi-genre series of concerts at the Old Burgrave’s House MUSIC AT VYŠEHRAD.
