Duo Fidlitas
Duo Fidlitas is a cello duo that originated within the Czech Philharmonic and consists of cellists Dora Hájková and Jan Holeňa. Both musicians perform as chamber and solo players and are also members of leading Prague orchestras.
The repertoire of Duo Fidlitas includes a diverse range of compositions—not only classical works by both older and contemporary composers, but also pieces they often arrange themselves to suit their ensemble. This allows them to create tailor-made programs for specific audiences or events.

Dora Hájkováis a cellist, chamber musician, and educator. Since the 2025/2026 season, she has been a member of the State Opera Orchestra in Prague. She previously played in the Czech Philharmonic’s Orchestral Academy and served as assistant principal cellist in the Pilsen Philharmonic. She currently teaches at the Pilsen Conservatory, the Music Grammar School in Prague, and ZUŠ Lounských.
She is a member of the Pavlova Quartet and the cello duo Fidlitas, and collaborates with leading young Czech artists such as Anna Paulová and Matouš Zukal. She plays an Italian cello made by Enrico Ceruti in 1869, kindly loaned from the National Collection of Musical Instruments.
Dora studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden. She completed international study programs in Detmold and regularly attends masterclasses with renowned musicians (e.g. Alisa Weilerstein, Miklós Perényi, Jiří Bárta). She made her solo debut at age sixteen at Prague’s Rudolfinum with the FOK Symphony Orchestra and has since performed with various ensembles, including at Vienna’s Musikverein. In 2020, she recorded Debussy’s Cello Sonata with pianist and Czech Philharmonic director David Mareček.
She is a laureate of the Bohuslav Martinů and Leoš Janáček competitions, a recipient of the Gustav Mahler Prize, and has won awards at several international competitions including Dotzauer (Dresden), Popper (Hungary), and Talents for Europe (Slovakia). In 2018, she was nominated for the Prague Spring Competition.
Jan Holeňa has been playing the cello since the age of five. He studied under Mirko Škampa, Josef Chuchra, and Miroslav Petráš, completing his master’s degree at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He received awards at several international competitions, including the Heran Competition, the Leoš Janáček Prize, and the Bohuslav Martinů Society Award for his performance of the Second Cello Sonata.
During his military service (2001–2002), he joined the Ondráš Art Ensemble, which introduced him to folk music. He continues to perform with Pavel Múčka’s Cimbalom Band. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Czech Philharmonic and remains active in chamber music, having played with ensembles such as Musica Bohemica and Airedale Trio, and has recorded solo works.
Currently, he performs with the cello duo Fidlitas, Virtuosi di Basso, and is a co-founder of the unique ensemble Cimbalom Band of the Czech Philharmonic. He plays an Italian cello made by Florinus Guidante in 1750.
