Jakub Gatěk & Valts Lasmanis
When a jazz trumpet from Moravia meets a Latvian guitar, something truly special happens.
The musical partnership of Jakub Gatěk and Valts Lasmanis is built on friendship, mutual respect, and a deep understanding of music. Their collaboration naturally blends 20th-century classical music, modern jazz, and rock—three worlds that intertwine with ease and originality in their hands.
For their concert in the unique setting of Vyšehrad, they’ve prepared a special acoustic set. Look forward to distinctive arrangements of works by O. Messiaen, D. Shostakovich, and E. Satie, as well as original compositions that reflect the personal stories of both musicians.
Who are Jakub and Valts?
Jakub Gatěk – a trumpeter from Přerov, graduate of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, member of the PMP Ensemble, and collaborator with legends such as Roscoe Mitchell and Anthony Braxton. His sound is precise, emotional, and always exploring new directions.
Valts Lasmanis – a guitarist from the Latvian town of Kuldīga, currently pursuing a master’s degree in jazz composition in The Hague. Active as a sideman in various jazz projects in Latvia, his playing is lyrical, thoughtful, and full of subtle contrasts.
Come and experience a concert that is not just a musical performance, but a dialogue between two souls brought together through sound.
