The Story of Bohemia’s First King

Step back in time to the era when Vratislaus II received the royal crown and transformed Vyšehrad into a symbol of Přemyslid power.

Twice during the day, a ceremonial procession of King Vratislaus II and his wife Świętosława (Svatava) of Poland, the first Queen of Bohemia, will arrive at Vyšehrad. Visitors can look forward to a grand welcome, displays by the royal retinue, and thrilling medieval combat demonstrations.

Throughout the day, you can explore a lively medieval camp, discover traditional crafts, and experience the atmosphere of a time when the Czech royal tradition was taking shape.

Vyšehrad held a special significance for the royal couple. It was here that they founded the Vyšehrad Chapter and the Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul, leaving an enduring legacy and establishing the site as a powerful symbol of Czech kingship.

Admission is free.
