Our mission and activities
The main mission of the Vyšehrad National Cultural Monument, a contributory organization of the City of Prague, is to protect, maintain, restore, and present that part of the historic complex of the Vyšehrad National Cultural Monument which is owned by the City of Prague. In a broader sense, we strive to balance the needs of tourism and local residents with the requirements of monument preservation.
Vyšehrad is a city park that is freely accessible all year round. The accumulation of large numbers of visitors places considerable demands on the maintenance of the monuments, public spaces, and urban greenery entrusted to us. While presenting, promoting, and popularizing Vyšehrad as a place of national importance, we provide a public service that is not profit-oriented. This is one of the reasons why the Vyšehrad complex is open and accessible free of charge throughout the year.
Our mission is to actively support the social and cultural use of the complex, develop research activities, and encourage neighborhood activities.

The management of the complex and the operation of our organization are funded by the City of Prague, but we are actively seeking additional sources of funding and developing fundraising activities. We believe that public support is a solid foundation for building a relationship with Vyšehrad and society as a whole. You can get involved too.

Public collection for the restoration of small monuments in the Vyšehrad complex. You can contribute to a transparent account or directly to the collection box at program events. Many of us associate Vyšehrad with important moments in our lives. Some were born beneath its walls, others had their first date or wedding here, and still others simply come here to relax.
