Vyšehrad Underground
Casemates to the redoubt
The casemates beneath St Leopold Bastion were completed in the mid-18th century by the French army. They lead from the Brick Gate (Cihelná Gate) to the redan, where the Vyšehrad Summer Stage is located today.
The casemates to the redan are normally accessible as part of the guided tour The Magic of Vyšehrad, but they can also be visited separately as a part of a special tour. The space is also available for private events or team-building activities through short-term rental.
What will you see on the tour?

The highest corridor
The first section of the passage from the Brick Gate reaches an impressive height of up to 6.5 metres and offers a striking perspective, enhanced by the steeply rising terrain. The underground corridor is 1.6 metres wide and approximately 230 metres long. It leads either to the Summer Stage area or, via a staircase, to St Leopold Bastion.

Casemates by candlelight
Upon request, we will be happy to arrange a costumed guide who will lead you through the underground by candlelight. In this authentic setting, you will experience the atmosphere of times when darkness and silence prevailed. Step into the past and discover the underground as it was perceived before the advent of electricity.
